For its research activities in 2003, the IER received a budget of
VND 6,332,000,000 from MOSTE, DOSTE and VNU-HCMC. Twenty
research projects have been carried out, among which 4 project at a
national level and MOSTE, 5 from DOSTE and 11 from VNU-HCMC.
National projects focus on big-scale environmental problems (i.e:
Project KC.08.08 called "Application of environmental
economics to monitor the environemt and assess natural resources
impacted by industrialization and modernisation in
economically-important zones (HCMC, DongNai, BinhDuong,
BaRia-VungTau.)" with budget of 2,4 billion VND during 3
years; the project SaiGon - DongNai river basin with budget
of 4 billion VND during 3 years.)

On the other hand, projects managed by DOSTE emphasized city
environmental problems such as the montoring of air pollution caused
by traffic in HCMC; the study of an ecotoxicological approach for
integrated water recources of the SaiGon - DongNai river basin.
Futhermore, research projects supported by VNU-HCM aim to promote
and encourage young scientists willing to improve their research
skills while working on environmental sustainable development of
VietNam. Click links below to see detailed information about IER
