As a main member of VNU-HCMC, IER is mandated by the Prime Minister the responsibility in Research - Post-graduate Education - Technology Transfer in the fields of environment and resources. The Vietnam Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE) also authorized IER being in charge of the national environmental monitoring station Number 3 which covers the whole Southern region of Vietnam.
